R.H. Boyd is seeking a Director of Sales and Advertising to effectively communicate the products and services of the R.H. Boyd Publishing Corporation to Christian and secular markets through a fully integrated marketing program of advertising, sales, promotions, product development and research, business development, and customer relations to achieve established goals for sales, revenue, and growth. The Director of Sales and Advertising must have a concerted focus on the aesthetic, voice, and consumer behavior of the African-American Christian audience. The Director should be astute, dedicated, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. He or she must work alongside the Publications team, Finance team, Creative Director, Customer Service Department, Operations/ Production team, and external partners.
BS or BA in Business Administration, marketing, or related field.
At least 5 years of related experience in sales and advertising.
Successful previous experience as a sales manager or director, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
Committed to continuous education through workshops, seminars, and conferences.
Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
Strong business sense and industry expertise.
Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills.
Project management and sales tracking.
Must be able to manage a sales and business development team
Must have experience with African-American markets
Must be an expert at utilizing ERP and CRM software
Develop strategic marketing and business plans (to include twelve-month and three- and five year plans).
Conduct product research and development.
Provide for the recruitment, training and performance evaluation of employees.
Attend various meetings, conferences and community affairs.
Oversees sales team whose responsibilities include business development and outreach initiatives, industry contact, and wholesale and retail accounts.
Ad placement in related industry mediums, including display ads, social media ads, newspapers and magazines, outdoor advertising, radio and podcasts, direct mail, video ads, product placement, event marketing, and email marketing campaigns.
Build strategic partnerships to create brand awareness and attain revenue objectives.
Attend trade shows, exhibitions, conferences, product unveils, etc. Must be able to setup and manage a booth, table, etc. on behalf of the company.
Must attend the National Baptist Congress and any other company-sponsored events.
Data collection and analytics, including the use of ERP and CRM software.
Utilize metrics/data to determine best approach and execution of ad campaigns.
Performance review will be based on expansion of brand awareness and achieved revenue objectives/results.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Finance Director, Creative Director, and/or CEO
