The May lessons are collectively titled “Special Offerings and the Sanctuary,” and the four lessons are drawn from the books of 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, and Nehemiah. These scriptures together emphasize the importance of repentance, reverent worship, the restoration and dedication of God’s Temple, and a covenant commitment by God’s people to uphold His laws and honor His presence among them.
Lesson 1: “It’ll Cost You Everything.” David learns that disobedience has a high cost, but true repentance and costly sacrifice can restore communion with God.
Lesson 2: “A Grand Opening.” God’s glory fills the Temple in response to Solomon’s dedication, marking the divine approval of wholehearted worship and obedience.
Lesson 3: “Mourning the Past or Celebrating the Future?” The foundation of the new Temple stirs both weeping and rejoicing, reflecting a people torn between the sorrow of loss and hope for renewal.
Lesson 4: “Here We Go Again!” The people recommit to God’s covenant with renewed zeal, determined to obey His law and support His house—again pledging a fresh start.
